JAMES BAY CHILDCARE CENTRE
Victoria, BC
DAU provided full architectural and coordinating registered professional services for this purpose-built childcare. The DAU team worked closely with the Client, James Bay Child Care Society (a non-profit organization), to design a building that would harmonize with the surrounding single family neighbourhood and be achievable within the available grant funding. The building layout prioritizes comfortable, daylit spaces, domestic-scaled rooms and careful arrangement of functional spaces.
I really appreciated the opportunity to work with DAU Studio. They provided us much needed expertise and guidance.
They helped create a beautiful building, that not only fits in the neighbourhood, but gets compliments often. The space was designed with both whimsey and functionality in mind. The staff and children have an incredible space to work, learn and care for each other.
