DAU has participated in an ongoing series of charrettes to plan for a 600-hectare site in the southwest quadrant of Mill Bay. Immediately adjacent to the town centre, this land is the logical place for future development, though currently zoned for forestry. A series of plans and sketches explores a variety of uses for the land, including agriculture, viticulture, single and multi-family residential, commercial, light industry, and tourism. The latest plan envisions a strong village centre here, serving the Mill Bay region. Each successive iteration has brought the project closer to achieving the correct balance of uses, with consideration given to the regional economic and environmental issues at hand.
