Building on the assets of this small village, these design guidelines are intended to help Burns Lake become more appealing to residents and visitors alike. A rendered town plan illustrates visions of future public and private development for the existing village centre, encouraging property owners to improve their existing buildings and sites, as well as focusing community activity into the village centre. A pilot project, intended to serve as an example and a catalyst for future developments, suggests further improvements to public infrastructure. The strategies outlined in this plan include safe sidewalks, screened and organized parking, street trees, and a new public square.
